How do you set up an AI voice agent?
You set up an AI voice agent by connecting your phone line to it, giving it your business information and live data, testing it, and switching it on. With Spoto this is three steps done together with our team: connect your number, teach Spoto your business, and let customers start getting answers. There is nothing to build or code.
Spoto is a smart assistant from Baghdad, Iraq, that answers business calls in Iraqi Arabic, English and Kurdish, and books appointments, takes orders and opens tickets on the same call. People search for it as an AI voice agent, voice AI or an AI phone assistant. For what it is and why businesses use it, read the complete guide to AI voice agents in Iraq and what is Spoto.
What is the difference between building and setting up?
Building an AI voice agent yourself means choosing a developer platform, connecting telephony, writing prompts, linking your calendar and stock, and testing every dialect. Setting one up with Spoto means the assistant already exists and already does bookings, orders and tickets: you bring your business, Spoto brings the rest.
Developer platforms are a good fit for teams that want to build voice products themselves. If you want a working assistant for your business, setup is the shorter road. We compare the two in depth in Spoto vs DIY voice AI platforms.
What should you prepare before setup?
Before setup, gather the facts your callers ask about and the rules your team follows: your phone number, opening hours, the people or resources customers book, the items you sell with prices, and the questions you hear every day. You do not need everything on day one, but the more you prepare, the better the first calls.
Tick each point that is true.
Your score: 0 of 8
Start with the number and your opening hours. The rest can be added with our team.
You are well prepared. Setup will go quickly and the first calls will be strong.
Everything is ready. Contact Spoto and your assistant can go live soon.
Step 1: How do you connect your phone number?
You connect your phone number by working with Spoto to route calls from your business line to the assistant. Your customers keep calling the number they already know. If your line accepts concurrent calls, Spoto can answer several at the same time; this is arranged with your phone carrier during setup.
Each business has its own number or numbers, and the number dialled tells the assistant which business it speaks for. That is how Spoto loads the right greeting, information and rules on every call. The voice and the greeting are set up by Spoto, so the assistant sounds right for your business from the first call.
Step 2: How do you teach Spoto your business?
You teach Spoto your business in the Spoto app: fill the business profile, write your common questions, set working hours, and add your items with prices, stock and spoken names. Spoto uses the profile and questions to answer, and reads hours, free times, prices and stock live on every call, so nothing goes out of date.
- 01
Business profile
Eight topics: about the business, address, landmarks, parking, payment methods, policies, languages spoken and anything else. The app shows your progress, for example "5 of 8 filled".
- 02
Common questions
Up to 30 questions with your own answers. Write them the way you would say them to a customer.
- 03
Working hours
Weekly hours per doctor, table or other resource, with several blocks per day, appointment length, gaps, days off and time off.
- 04
Items and stock
Categories, prices, stock counts, low-stock alerts, daily restock and items you want Spoto to suggest.
- 05
Spoken names
The words callers use for each item. An item without spoken names cannot be ordered by phone, and the app warns you.
- 06
Order hours
Always open, or set hours per day. Spoto takes phone orders only inside them.
Before you go live, use "Hear what callers get" in the app: type what a caller might say for an item, and see exactly what Spoto would find. It is the fastest way to catch a missing nickname.
Step 3: How do you go live and stay in control?
You go live by switching answering on in the Agent tab of the Spoto app. From that moment every call is answered, and every booking, order and ticket appears in the app live, with a notification on your phone. You can stop answering, or switch bookings or orders off, with one tap at any time.
- 1
Answering is on
The Agent tab shows Live and the numbers callers dial.
- 2
The first call arrives
Spoto greets the caller in their language and answers from your profile.
- 3
A task is done
A booking, an order or a ticket, checked against your live data and read back first.
- 4
You are notified
The result appears in the app, and your phone gets a notification.
- 5
Your team follows up
Orders move through the queue, tickets get worked on, calls marked for a callback get called back.
Spoto's settings always come first: if a service is not in your plan, its switch is shown greyed out with a link to contact Spoto. Notifications can be set per type, and quiet hours hold them until morning, except urgent tickets and failed calls.
What should you check in the first week?
In the first week, check three things in the app: the calls marked as needing a callback, the reasons people call, and whether your items and common questions match the words callers really use. Then add answers to your common questions and spoken names to your items. Each change is used on the next call.
- Calls that need a callback. A silent caller, a bad line, a caller the assistant could not understand. Call them back from the call's page with one tap.
- Why people call. The home screen shows the reasons and the busiest hours. If one question dominates, write a clear common answer for it.
- Your items. If callers use a name you did not expect, add it as a spoken name.
- Your hours. Holidays and time off go into the app, so Spoto never offers a time you are closed.
